  • How to use Reliance Huawei EC321 datacard with Tata Indicom?

    By Techalites | January 20, 2008 | Topics: How To... | |

Reliance netconnect and datacards are very popular in India and many of the people in remote areas where broadband facilities are still not available this is the only option for reliable internet faster than dial-up service of BSNL.

But unfortunately for last couple of months Reliance datacard speed is also have gone very bad and many times even connectivity is also problem. Other unfortunate matter is that reliance data cards are locked so evenif you have purchased it by giving them 5000 INR, you can not use it with other service provider like Tata Indicom or BSNL WLL.

With my experience, I can say that Tata Indicom CDMA Internet service is definitely better than Reliance netconnect and if you compare them simultaneously you will notice that it is almost 25% faster than reliance. So after a many research i decided to switch to Tata Indicom. But now problem was that i can not use my Huawei EC321 datacard with Tata as it has been locked by Reliance. So after efforts of 3 days i got the solution for that.

    Here is hack:

Prerequisite: Huawei EC321 datacard which comes with RUIM slot, Tata T- Sim Card, Laptop with PCMCIA slot.

    Procedure:

    1) Download BitPim software from here.

    2) Read the SPC code of your data card using it.

bitpim How to use Reliance Huawei EC321 datacard with Tata Indicom?

    3) Download CDMA Workshop software from here. Leave comment below and i will send it to your email.

    4) Install the software and insert your data card in PCMCIA slot.

    5) Choose correct COM Port, Click on QCDM, and than read.

    6) You will see all system information on screen.

    7) Now Click on Other tab and and there in RUIM setting choose RUIM only.

workshop_7 How to use Reliance Huawei EC321 datacard with Tata Indicom?

    8) It will ask for SPC code and you need to give it before changing any setting. Give SPC you have detected using BitPim.

    9) Its done. Insert your T SIM card in the slot of data card and restart the device use software available on Tata Indicom website to connect to internet.

I am currently writting this hack using Tata Indicom service on Huawei EC321 data card provided by Reliance.

Currently I am facing one problem with Huawei Data Card EC321. Currently I am using Tata Indicom connection. Whenever my system goes to standby \ hibernate and then I wakes up laptop, Card stops working. It is having no light. It is the condition when there is Option->Allow Standby\Hibernate. Then only option is to restart laptop.
But when I selects Prevent Standby\Hibernate, on every wake up it displays message - USB device is not working properly or is no longer available. Then I need pull card out of PCMCIA slot and push inside again to start it working.
Is it problem of driver, some bug with card or software. Please help.

    15. Naveen Grover Says:
      April 12th, 2008 at 6:28 pm

What I am able to understand is that the above said problem happens in case of Stand By. On allowing stand by mode, on every wake up it displays message - “Data Card does not exist or unavailable” along with USB message - “USB device is not working properly or is no longer available”.

      Hi,

I have Reliance Data Card ( MC315) is there posible to break this code and to connect with TATA sim card to access the internet?

    23. Techalites Says:
      May 9th, 2008 at 7:09 am

Dinesh: I am not sure about MC315 Datacard but it is definitely possible with EC 321 data card. What are the basics though you can follow? Get CDMA Wares software, connect it and record all settings on separate paper. Now try and find exact firmware version number of the data card you have. And try to find on internet if there is any updated version available for firmware. If you get one try to upgrade the firmware. By upgrading firmware you will be able to destroy data reliance has put inside and will automatically unlock reliance data cards. (First of all check weather your card support sim card insertion?).

Drop comment here if you need further help.

    24. Techalites Says:
      May 9th, 2008 at 7:11 am

Reliance huawei USB netconnect data card has SIM slot so if you anyway remove reliance settings from it and make changes in it to work with SIM card you can use it.

You can recheck your SPC code again and see if it is correct. Varification codes can also be found through BitPim. Try to find out and see if you can get one.

Dear Rashmyn, As such i am not that much technically sound with bitpim. Most of people usually do not find it difficult. But i think they have very good explanation on their website which you can refer. They also have presentation and faq with troubleshooting on their website. Please go through them and do let me know if you need further help.

    37. Techalites Says:
      May 15th, 2008 at 5:09 am

Rashmyn: What you can do is? First insert ypur card in notebook. Start Bitpim. It will automatically find phone. It it can not than manually find phone. On COM Port select one by one coms and in type of handset select other CDMA. And try to see if you get system folder coming up in navigation on left side.

You do not require any software. Just upgrade your firmware and than use cdma workshop as have already mentioned in post.

hi techalites, i’m also using ec325. but, their speeds are slow very much. you have the software or firmeware to unlock EC325 for hi-speeds (2mb-> up)or use other network.

      Thanks.

      Hi!, I’m hendra from Indonesia.
I’m also using EC325 which is bundling with one of local Provider (Esia by Bakrie Telecom). How can I use your way to unlock and use it for another R UIM card (other provider too). I’ve already using a EEPROM or some kind of Flash Updater for the device.. but sometimes it can’t read the card and sometimes it can..??? How can I fix this problem??? please help!

I am unable to have my Ec321 card detected on bitpim.Cdma workshop does not allow reading/writing unless registered for a fee that is more than the cost of a new card from tata.I have downloaded Ec321 s/w normal from huawei.when inserting card it updates to reliance data.I have managed to read ESN no and also let the card have tata software.what further needs to be done.Thanks.

      Hi,
I’m currenty using the snail-speed reliance connection using my ZTE CDMA 1X card. Is there anyway I can reprogram the card to work with the BSNL which also uses the CDMA technology so I wont have to spend another Rs 4500/- to get a connection from BSNL. Thanks in advance…
